Our Impact
A growing awareness of trauma’s impact on families—including the critical roles families play in helping children recover—highlights the importance of putting families at the center of trauma services. When families carry out routines, rituals, and traditions, they strengthen their connections and grow stronger. Talking, laughing, sharing memories and feelings, and working together to solve problems, manage stress, and plan for each day and the future are necessary for resilience and recovery from traumatic stress. If families experience numerous or ongoing traumas, resources diminish, and the “wear-and-tear” effect on health and well-being may call for family-informed trauma services in addition to resources for recovery and lasting healing.
1000+
Families Changed
Even in the closest families, it is sometimes hard to remember that family members may react differently to the same traumatic event.
20+
Years Serving communities
We provide ongoing support, walking alongside these children and families through those times when they need help the most. This is done whenever possible in the context of the local community.
1500+
Hundreds of children Impacted
Not all children experience child-traumatic stress after experiencing a traumatic event, but those who do can recover. With proper support, many children can adapt to and overcome such experiences.
