Ray of Hope is a Summer Day Program unlike any other in Whatcom County.  Children ages 5 – 12 with emotional, behavioral and/or economic challenges attend the entire six weeks of the program, which begins at 9am and runs through 3pm, with aftercare available until 6pm.

Elementary-aged kids who've experienced difficult life circumstances are encouraged and empowered through laughter, meaningful relationships, outdoor recreational activities, music and art enrichments, and other unique experiences. Ray of Hope helps kids learn to self-manage their behavior by incorporating the PBIS behavior system used in many Whatcom County schools. To ensure the success and safety of the program, the program’s staff-to-child ratio is 1:4. Ray of Hope is for the kids who most need, yet seldom experience, such a holistic, well-staffed, and fun summer.

A typical day at Ray of Hope includes breakfast, small group time, arts and crafts, indoor or outdoor recreation depending on weather, lunch, field trips, and enrichments. These enrichments allow kids the opportunity to experience situations and settings many, if not most, never have.

Many thanks to Jessica and Amjay for donating the beautiful Ray of Hope staff t-shirts!
